She's Mad!

(continued from previous post dated 12th Feb)

The way she had captivated my mind gave me the
impression as if I had created her from the magnificent
sinews of my imagination! Charm. Elegance. Madhuri
came to my mind. I wanted to call her just that...

kband - It's a common name but has a sweetness about it,
much like you. The other name, even though I liked it,
could not hang like a millstone round ur neck, so it had to
go. And give way to the Prima Donna from the reel-world.
I am totally besotted by her (who isn't, ask Hussain). Her
smile, her looks, her talents - all seem to give her the aura
of the ultimate woman. Most of all I like the way she
carries herself both on and off the screen. So hope you'll
let me live on my fantasy - how do you do Madhuri ?
(It's a small price to pay for not revealing your real
name ;-))
From dreams to crude reality now. That's the worst part
of the net - its openness makes it subject to the worst
kind of abuse. Ignoring the rascal won't help as one can't
say what his limits of perversion are. I just can't fathom
the why's and how's of the vulgarity that goes on. The
only suggestion that I can give would depend on whether
u hv had enough for the moment (I have a personal stake
in this) - then simply Keep Away. Adopt another id, say
in rediffmail, and keep in touch. There's a technical solution
also, it is possible to find out the exact location of the
sender, but I won't recommend all that trouble for u.
Some people I find have tried altering their profile - No
more mails pls, etc. but I doubt if that can put such]
desperadoes off. As a last resort, u can give me his id
- I'll send him a stinker.
You know my favourite destination at Calcutta whenever
I go there - Music World at Park Street ! Yet to find any
equal in Delhi but now we're lucky to have Five FM
channels (I was boasting about this to my Mumbai
colleague only to learn they have Seven channels). So it's
freakin music all the way during the one-hour drive from
home to my office at ITO, never had it so good.
James Bond movies is an all-time craze - i paid a hundred
bucks to watch the first day, first show of Octopussy at
the Globe (was a student then). Sean Connery to my mind
stands much taller than the rest and I made some
hopelessly futile attempts to adopt some of his
mannerisms incl chanting the mantra - "discipline 007"
during some 'horny' situations (don't read too much into
the word if it doesn't make sense to you). Wonder if the
rumours about Aishwarya donning the role of the femme
fatale is true - she'll be much better than Halle Berry.
I must catch hold of the copy of the book recommended
by you, after all it's got something to do with Arms...:-)

lea - Oh Rana, I simply LOVE the name !!! MADHURI,
sounds very sweet. Moreover, I too am a crazy fan of
Mrs.Nene, she is one of the best that Bollywood ever had
.....her smile is simply killing. Oh, i wish, i had half of that
enigmatic smile for myself. Thank you Rana, for this name
and also, for flattering me yet again. Hmmm, I am getting
used to this :-)) Its worth the price I am paying for not
revealing my real name..........someday I am going to reveal
it to you, but currently the fear of losing this sweet name
is not allowing me to do so. If you promise me that you will
not call me by it, I will tell you.
I have ignored all the mails of that person. i havent replied
to a single mail of his, thinking, that should be enough. I
guess it would be best to block his address. Now, could you
do me a favour by explaining What the "personal stake" is?
:-))Thanks for offering to help, but I think blocking the
address would do for the moment.
Oh I too visited music planet a few months back. The one in
chennai is much much bigger. I picked up a grt gazal album
(jagjit singh). planning to go there once again to buy the
"tera chehra" cd by Adnan sami. have u heard the songs,
lovely ones arent they ? Amitabh Bachchan looks so cute in
the video , i dote on him !!
james bond, sean connery - they r one and the same. I am
glad you have similar views on this matter. its been so hard
to make some people understand that noone has played the
role better and cant possibly. And when u talk of Octopussy,
i was in my first standard most probably, that was the first
james bond movie i watched and have been watching them
since ! my father being a grt fan of sean connery and also a
movie buff, had taken us along to Light house or New
empire (do u remember?), and i was spellbound. not that i
used to understand the story then, but my father used to
narrate the story parallely in our mother tongue, and i
would follow the visuals. What attracted me most were the
opening scenes (which would be connected to the main
story later) and of course the way bond would introduce
himself. but what i dont remember is "discipline 007".
Whats that all about ?I would hate to see Ash in any bond
movie because i simply dont feel how she would fit.
Somethings, we must accept are good only when they are
"foren". i havent watched halle berry, but i cant forget
ursula andrews and her likes. Ash is definitely one of the
most beautiful women in the world, but Bond girl ? Nope.
Arms and the man has nothing to do with arms, let me
warn you, but it is worth reading.
One benefit of writing to you is : i am getting a good
practice of my writing skills. Moreover I get some new
words from ur mails, which make me refer to the online
dictionary. Another reason to write to you :-))
Were u suggesting we keep in touch through some
different id ? I didnt understand what u were trying to
convey, sorry. but definitely this site has serious problems.
Yesterday night i tried to send u that mail thrice and
everytime the message would come "mail could not be
delivered". But then i find that u did receive the mail.
Last but not the least, I know i talk too much, lest u feel
the same, dont hesitate to tell me. Dont want to waste ur
precious time.

Lost or Won?

(continued from previous post dated 5th Feb)
The name game, though seemingly concluded, was still far from
over........

lea - Dear Rana, (do I need to add a bhaiya.....coz u r quite elder to
me ;-))), hope u didnt mind that silly joke)
Ok, so Rana it is.I am glad that the naming ceremony is over. Now,
as for my name, i like it, but let me warn you, one characteristic of
Neela is to destroy the wearer if it doesnt suit him/her. SO
BEWARE :-)) And I think you flatter me too much, I am soon going
to grow 2 thick horns on my head, or may be my head would just
grow bigger. As it is I am not beautiful, what do you think all that
would do to me ? I always say, the greatest thing about flattery is
that even though you know you are being flattered, you like it
(wah ! wah !) Enough of my crap, let me try and talk some sense.
Hmm, so u r off to meerut. I went there twice. once to appear for an
MBA interview, and once to the Daurala Sugar Mills with my
parents. My father had some office work. The manager there had
gifted us lots of sugar cubes. It was a day before diwali, and we
bought lots of crackers from the local shops, they were so cheap
compared to the delhi ones. R u going there on official work ? Oh,
btw, did u get the other mail i sent you ?
Something horrible happenned with me yesterday. U know, my
fiance had gifted me w wonderful finger ring, with an Opal , coz
thats my birth stone, on my birthday. I have never taken it off
since, and have been cherishing it for the last 1 1/2 years. Last
night, to my utter dismay I discovered that the stone, which had
such a unique shape and glitter has fallen off. Cant tell you what I
felt like, I ran to the booth and called him up only to sob and sob.
It was somethng so precious, so delicate, so invaluable to me..........
I am still upset. My parents promised me that they will get another
stone put in its place..........but somehow I cant forget it.
Thats all from my side for now. See you on Friday.
Oh, questions for today : 1.Whats ur birthdate ? 2.Where do u live
in Delhi, I mean which area ? Well you know the rules, you need not
answer if you dont want to.
Look what a day's absense has done !!! I got myself another e-pal :-))
Hope your meerut trip went well.

kband - It's great to know that u got another e-pal, perhaps that
will make u feel much better. The net seems to be a much more
happening place than our 'real' world. Even I feel somewhat relieved
coz ever since I learnt about the loss of your precious possession,
I was a little disturbed. On top of that, was the apocryphal reference
to the stone I named u after, maybe it's not right. So I've decided to
banish it into oblivion and look for something more innocuous - your
real name might help, now that you know mine.
I'll tell you about something wonderful which I lost as a kid - my
books. I used to be a literal worm then, always immersed in the
pages of my beloved treasures. Knowing my craze, everybody gifted
me only books then, on birthdays and other occasions, not to mention
the prizes I won. I had one full cupboard of my collections including a
complete set of Tintin comics (I really love them). But then, one day
it was all gone. Our house at Golpark was burgled, and all the
wretched guy could lay his hands on were my books ! I was in hostel
then, and my parents did not have the heart to break the news to me
till I came home for my vacation. I was distraught but took it
stoically. From that day my interest in books started to wane and
I no longer crave for them. More recently, I have started worrying
about my other continuing loss, my hair. But then, I should not tell
you too much, then you'll call me 'uncle', already you have 'rakhi' on
your minds.
Yes, I'd like to flatter you, only to deceive. I've told you that you
are risking friendship with a smart conman. You know what all this
treachery is rooted in : a desire to take a sneek peek in the worlds
and minds of 'beautiful' people which otherwise one is debarred. I
hope you have not started to take me too seriously, though I admit
to take a liking to 'horny' individuals (I'm excluding u this time).
Can I have that suggestive "Hmm" once again pls ?
We'd been to Meerut Cantt to study some Russian eqpt, some more
trips may be reqd later. Following the trail of your dad's peripatetic
life, it appears he had a transferable nature of job. It has given you a
liberal, open-minded outlook which I can only admire. The only
'foreign' country I've been lucky to visit was the mountain kingdom
of Bhutan (we used to be in Siliguri then). Also been to various places
in the country but most of all I cherish small remote hamlets, with
carefree people untarnished by materialistic wants, lush green fields,
fluttering birds, the fragrance of a laidback life........................

lea - Oh ! So u r happy about the fact that I got myself another e-pal,
I was thinking otherwise. (Just kidding). I am not going to agree with
ur view that the net is a more happening place than the real world....
real world is for real, u dont have unknown people coming upto you
and asking you to come with them to some "secret" place, they would
atleast be afraid of the severe beating they might get if I raise an
alarm. Only 2 out of 165 odd message were worth reading and
replying - one is urs (now dont be flattered), and the other was the
"other" guy's.
I was wondering as to why I even bothered to let u know that I lost
the ring stone. And now that I have done it, i feel it was wrong.......coz
you are snatching my name from me....... i have always longed to
have a new name. I dont mind if you would want to find a different
one, but i wont let u replace it with my real name. So......my real
name will remain a secret !
Oh i feel so sorry about ur books, especially Tintins. My god, i would
have had a heart attack ! i rememeber how bitterly i had cried for an
entire day when my posters of martina navratilova (i still dote on
her) got misplaced while we were getting tranferred to delhi from cal.
thank god, i got them back. but i know how it feels. i was planning to
buy all the tintin books, but they r too expensive. may be i should ask
my friends to gift me only tintin books on all occasions ;-))
Dont worry too much abt ur hair, the more u lose, the more
prosperous u would get and the more intellectual u would look..........
age old saying !!! And dont worry, i am throwing away the rakhi, and
promise never to think on the "Uncle" thing.
Hmmmm, so you are a conman, like to take sneak peeks, have a
liking for horny individuals, not to forget that you are also losing hair
;-)) WOW, that is something. You have succeeded in confusing me
and also raise my curiosity (may be thats what u wanted). U say i
shouldnt take u too seriously, and that u deceive me when u flatter.
But isnt that the chief characteristic of flattery ? Its called flattery
because its not true, atleast not completely. Secondly, ur notion that
I probably have a beautiful mind.........i dont know what to say..........
u really flatter me too much. But as I have nothing to lose, I am not
going to complain. btw, what exactly did u mean by "horny" ?
RUSSIAN equipment ??? Pardon me, but all this reminds me of the
james bond movies which i so LOVE to watch :-))
No, my father didnt have a transferable job, but its me whos been
deputed to diff places. but what my father has always done is take
us on vacations very 2 yrs to diff places. all over india. And i too love
those lush green valleys, lofty mountains, or the never ending waves.
Oh, wanted to tell you abt this book i read recently - Arms and the
Man (bernard shaw), such a humourous book, oh u would love it. I
am also reading the harry potter series (i bought them). Do u like
listening to music ? Thats one of my hobbies.
And one last thing - there is one guy who is bothering me repeatedly
with his dirty mails. Any suggestions ?
Write back........Neela (As long as i dont get another name)

The Name Game

(continued from previous post dated 28th Jan)
The introductions were over. I told her that I was involved
in the arms business. Few nomenclatures now had to be
established. I decided to call her Neela.......

lea - I received ur "other" mail, the server couldnt hold it back, it
seems :-)) I will reply to that separately. You didnt like the name
bandopadhayay, anyway it was toooo long for me to type everytime.
I would call you "Mita" as in "Mita" or "Bud" as in "Buddy" if you
allow me. In case you dont like either, please let me know what you
would like to be called, do let me know. As for me, you can call me
anything (Neela, nilima.........anything) as long as its not honey,
sweety, cutie and all that. BTW, Any particular reason why you
chose Neela ?You call me an easy going person.........what makes
you say that ?
How long have you been living in Delhi ? We were in Noida quite
some years back, when I was doing my grad from DU. Got lots of
friends there. Thanks for answering all my questions about ur
profession. Dont worry I will not ask you any further due to the
sensitive nature of ur work. Oh I remember someone telling me
that he had to wear a cyanide capsule around his neck because he
was doing some research work at the Bhaba Institute because of
the kind of work they do. And I had believed him !!! Oh, please
dont think I am making fun of your work or anything, just
happened to remember that incident.
And what is this about "convoluted, sarcastic, laboured" humour etc
etc. I genuinely find your mails funny (not in a derogatory way) and
as I said thats one reason I respond. But of course I know nothing
about your nature so cannot comment on your cynicism, but I will
surely let you know if I feel that way ever. For the time being lets
just take it that you write quite well. And now you can pick yourself
up from the floor :-))
I am no Diva and you are no shrink. Shrink sounds too american,
we desis, dont need shrinks, we are too smart for that ! Thanks for
calling me a sensitive person, I try to be one, that sometimes creates
problems for me though, but nevertheless.
Oh I pity you for having lost a golden opportunity with "Ms Urszula
Sciborowska". But dont worry, yeh nahi to woh sahi :-))
Looking forward to the life and times of ........ it would be great if you
choose a name for yourself, it is becoming exceedingly difficult.
......... (Do let me know mine too)
One last thing - I have deleted your first mail. I think you
mentioned you were married, are you. Dont bother to answer of you
find it awkward or too personal. It doesnt make any difference to
me anyway, I just asked because as I said I have deleted the first
mail of yours where you introduced yourself.

kband - Dear Neela, joy at last to recv ur mail b4 i hit the sack.
While toying around with ur pseudonym, I chanced upon this
precious gem glittering with all its sincerity and candour. It suits
u perfectly, let me know what u feel. Let's just get over my name
part - call me Rana, that's how they call me at home. Just got
time to tell u that I'll b goin to Meerut tomorrow........
